Seattle Mariners announce new space at T-Mobile Park featuring nod to Kingdome, Augmented Reality

The $30 million upgrade of T-Mobile Park ahead of the Seattle Mariners’ 2020 season will include a renovated gathering space for baseball fans to take in the game action.

The club announced Thursday that the “Trident Deck” will be debuting in the upcoming year. A space once known as the “Lookout Landing,” the new gathering area is perched above the left field foul pole on the View Level of the ballpark.

The Trident Deck will have an Augmented Reality experience during Mariners games, giving fans the opportunity to view historical images of the former Kingdome (projected over the view of neighboring CenturyLink Field) with their smartphones, according to a news release.

The original team colors of royal blue and gold, in addition to old photos of early-era Mariners players, are among the features of the renovated space.

The Trident Deck is intended to be a flexible space “where fans can have social experiences in small group settings,” per the release. The area will be available for sale to large groups, and will be open to all fans when vacant. More information can be found on Mariners.com/Hospitality.

Mariners’ spring training begins later this month, with the regular season opening March 26.
