Last year champions, San Francisco Shock, are our favorite for the Overwatch League 2020 Season. Unlike all other teams, they made a single change in their roster, as tank player Andreas “Nevix” Karlsson left for Toronto Defiant and formerly retired Seonchang “ANS” Lee steps into the arena. San Francisco Shock builds its legend slowly but surely, relying on a stable roster to improve rather than picking good players from various teams.

Continuing Success

In the Overwatch League 2019 Season, the Shock was the team to beat. They won the Stage One Finals against Vancouver Titans after seven maps, then didn’t lose a single match in Stage Two, lost two in Stage Three but recovered and performed a flawless Stage Four, before winning the Season Playoffs against their first rivals of the Season, Vancouver Titans.

San Francisco Shock Overwatch League champions trophy celebration

The players of San Francisco Shock are used to playing long matches, up to seven maps in a row. Last year, they did it twice, first against Vancouver in the Stage One Finals, but also against Atlanta Reign in the Season Playoffs first match. They also play a large range of heroes, which will certainly be an advantage now that the hero bans will shake the League.

As San Francisco Shock has the experience, skill, nerves and flexibility, there is no reason a team who crushed the League once can’t do it again. Especially as most teams changed their roster, some starting over from scratch, and San Francisco brings some stress to their opponents being the reigning champions.
