Today was the end of the opening week of LCS in 2020, but also the debut of Monday Night League! Two great matchups awaited us after Day One and Day Two delivered some other fantastic games, and with almost every team having new rosters, this split is sure to deliver countless more!
Evil Geniuses vs 100 Thieves
In the first game of Monday Night League, Evil Geniuses (“EG”) asserted full dominance over 100 Thieves (“100T”). After a rough first game, EG definitely bounced back. Most of their leads came off the backs of Svenskeren and Jiizuke, as after Svenskeren ganked and killed Ryoma mid, the LeBlanc player was unleashed. He roamed around the map alone and with his jungler to help his team take multiple objectives. It wasn’t long before EG found two kills and three towers as 100T struggled to find their footing.
The glimpse of hope for 100T was Ssumday, as he was able to win trades and take the First Tower bonus against Kumo. This didn’t last long though. Jiizuke constantly chunked enemy champions out and forced them to back away from objectives, specifically dragons, repeatedly. Because of this, EG easily acquired the Infernal Soul. 100T tried hard to stop them with a triple Teleport play but were unable to land even a single kill.
Now desperate, 100T attempted to rush Baron Nashor. EG caught on quickly and collapsed, forcing a team fight on the cornered Thieves. EG cut down four while losing none of their own, which led to a free Baron buff. From here, EG went straight to the newly spawned Elder Dragon. Due to the overwhelming pick pressure from Jiizuke again, 100T was forced to concede the objective and lost their jungler in the process. EG wasted no time, as they immediately rushed mid, smashed the Inhibitor, killed three more 100T members and blasted their Nexus.

Team Liquid vs Team SoloMid
After their previous loss to Cloud9, four-time LCS title winners Team Liquid (“TL) won a convincing game versus the struggling Team SoloMid (“TSM”). Despite taking the loss, TSM actually had an impressive early game. Dardoch made two ganks to the bottom lane by minute four, and each time he killed Doublelift. With this bot pressure, TSM furthered their lead with two dragons then rotated top to take the Rift Herald. After that, TSM returned bottom to summon the Herald and take the First Tower bonus. Similar to their previous game, TSM was poised to cleanly snowball the game, especially after they took the third dragon and was one away from Soul.
But it quickly went south for them. Jensen on his classic Orianna set up two picks onto Biofrost and Dardoch. At 22 minutes, both teams met at the fourth dragon and engaged in a poke battle. Eventually, the dragon went low, but Jensen came up huge and stole it away from TL, which led to a two-for-two team fight. Dardoch was caught out once more, while TL leveraged their newfound advantage to take multiple towers and another dragon.
The Baron was neglected for a while, but TL changed that at 30 minutes, when they rushed it down and secured it before TSM had the opportunity to contest. With this buff, TL swiftly captured a third Infernal Dragon and middle Inhibitor. This buff wore off but the Baron inevitably respawned. Like before, TL rushed it down and claimed it’s buff easily. The final team fight occurred at the last dragon for each team before Soul, as both wanted the permanent buff. Both teams fought hard, but TL’s team fight prowess was too much. Four from TSM fell before the five-strong TL squad rushed their base and demolished their Nexus.
