Blood drawing is the most common clinical procedure in the world — done more than a billion times per year — but studies show more than 27% of the time clinicians miss patients’ hard-to-see veins. And the percentages are much higher if they can’t feel any veins or patients are emaciated.

Josh Leipheimer, a Rutgers biomedical engineering PhD candidate, is leading the development of the VeniBot. It’s a robot that finds blood vessels.
