Amaravati: Over 11,000 Rythu Bharosa centres will be set up by the beginning of the Kharif season, said chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the assembly on Wednesday. These centres will be located close to the village secretariats and all their grievances, the chief minister announced, would be addressed through the centres.
Besides, workshops and seminars on innovative agricultural practices and organic farming would be held at the Rythu Bharosa centres and seeds and fertilizers would be distributed through the centres.
Jaganmohan Reddy said the government would be spending close to Rs 1,700 crore to provide uninterrupted free power for nine hours to run agriculture pump sets. “We are marching ahead to bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector. We will provide quality seed, fertilizer, pesticides to farmers through Rythu Bharosa centres. We will also conduct soil health tests and issue ertificates to farmers through the same,” said the chief minister.
He said they have already constituted a calamity fund with Rs 2,000 crore and price stabilisation fund with Rs 3,000 crore. They are spending close to Rs 2,100 crore to implement the free crop insurance, he said.
Meanwhile, Jana Sena legislator Rapaka Varaprasada Rao criticised the TDP during a debate for creating ruckus. “Naidu has a history of rejecting farmers’ demand for free power. TDP members should be ashamed of their behavior in the House,” said Rapaka. He showered praises on chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy for taking up pro-farmer measures.
