Gauntlet Mixed Reality Trailer Released – VRFocus

Labrodex Studios originally planned to release its wave shooter Scraper: Gauntlet in December 2019 but held off to further polish the experience. The new release date is only a couple of weeks away so in preparation the team have unveiled the first-ever mixed reality (MR) video playing the title as well as the current beta updates.

Scraper: GauntletLast month the studio put out a call for beta testers and by the looks of it got a decent response. The beta was upgraded this week with a bunch of new features, graphical upgrades and performance tweaks.

The big addition was the integration of MR recording software LIV, allowing the studio to record the below video. Not only does the video showcase Scraper: Gauntlet in action but it also helps to demonstrate the videogame on Oculus Quest via Oculus Link. Thanks to the beta the title has been tested on Oculus Rift/Rift S, HTC Vive, Vive Cosmos, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

“The beta program has been a big hit and has provided fantastic feedback for the development team,” states CEO Jim R. Ivon in an email to VRFocus. VR beta testers are amazing and have been awesome to work with.  We’re approaching 200 people that signed up and have had a couple hundred logged feedback requests.  This has resulted in weekly patches to address issues and changes the beta community has provided us. Players are starting to reach post-game with one nearing max rank based on 20 or so hours of play.”

As the launch nears the team is putting the final touches to the environment – as you can see from the new screenshots. Other tweaks include more functionality for the Fluctuator weapon offering unique behaviours to enemy weapons when grabbed, an improved Haptic knife and more graphical settings to suit a wide range of hardware configurations.

Labrodex Studios isn’t stopping there already outlining plans for future content. Top of the list will be new maps, mods, mutators and maybe a boss. Also being looked into is the possibility of how multiplayer or a co-op mode may fit in.
