During weddings, haldi is one of the most fun and exciting function out of all the ceremonies. One has to lookout for their siblings, cousins or friends who may smear the haldi mixture all over their face and outfit just like Ranbir & Aditya Roy Kapoor from the movie ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, remember? So for obvious reasons, doing a full on glam makeup on your haldi ceremony does not make a lot of sense. So what do you do?
The team at TWB brainstormed on some easy and simple hacks that you can try for your haldi ceremony so that you look presentable and feel beautiful on the day of the occasion.
1. Use Sunscreen!
We know this sounds a bit strange but hear us out. Haldi ceremonies often take place outdoors and you’re exposed to sunlight for a prolonged period of time which can harm your skin beyond repair. Take care of your skin by applying a generous amount of sunscreen on the exposed areas of your body.
2. Concealer to the rescue.
After you’re done with your skincare, dab on some full coverage concealer under your eyes and problematic areas. This will ensure that those late night parties with your bridesmaids are covered skillfully.
3. Tints!
We’re sure you’ve heard about lip and cheek tints that are multi purpose and extremely useful when you’re going for that simple and effortless look. Get your hands on a cream/gel/ liquid based tint and don’t forget to use the tiniest amount because these are usually extremely potent in nature.
TWB Tip: Put the tiniest amount on the tip & bridge of your nose to make it look like a flush from within!
4. Pick the perfect nude lipstick.
Since haldi ceremonies take place in the day time, avoid dark shades of lipsticks since they can look a little harsh for a day evemt. The definition of a nude lipstick is different for everyone due to varying undertones and skin colors. We understand that it can get confusing for most brides-to-be, so ask your makeup artist to help you out with picking what suits you best. There are numerous shades available in the market so get your hands on the one for you.
TWB Tip: Pick a formula that is comfortable for you and lasts for a really long time. We recommend liquid lipsticks!
5. Splash of color on your eyelids.
If you’re too impatient for a full fledged wing eyeliner then get your hands on an eyeshadow stick that is cream based in any neutral shade. Colors like gold, rosegold or champagne look fresh and photograph well!
6.. Setting powders to lock it in!
Day time event and out in the sun? Whatever you put on your face is bound to melt so what do you do? Lock in your makeup with some setting powder. This product will ensure that the concealer does not budge from its place. Also, use some powder blush in the shade closest to the tint to make the blush long lasting as well.
7. Highlight like a goddess.
Now, as much as we love loading up on highlighters and shining like a disco ball, we recommend going a little easy on blinding highlighters. Look for a strobing cream or cream based highlighter and place it on the high points of your face and blend it for it to look subtle, seamless & skin like.
8. Don’t forget to eat healthy & hydrate.
As much as we’re grateful for makeup in helping us achieve our best, its only about bringing out your best features. What you put inside your body is equally important! So eat food rich in vitamin C and antioxidants to help you feel your best as well. Water is your best friend when it comes to glowing from within so carry your own bottle of water everywhere you go and set a reminder on your phone to help you achieve a goal of at least 3 liters of water everyday. We promise it will show results.
