Effective Solutions to De-Wrinkle Your Clothes

Nobody wants to get out of their house with wrinkled or crumpled clothes. Nothing is more embarrassing than arriving at a morning business meeting with a creased and wrinkled shirt despite the fact that everyone does it at least once. Remember that time when you arrive at your hotel during a trip to find out that all your clothes have creases? What made it worse is the fact that your hotel didn’t have a functioning iron. During those times, knowing easy hacks to de-wrinkle your clothes is a true blessing. That’s why we compiled some smart solutions to de-wrinkle your clothes, whether you have an iron or not.

1)  Use a Steamer

If you feel that iron isn’t your favorite tool to de-wrinkle your garments, try using handheld or standing steamers which are actually great user-friendly options. Steamers work by heating water until it produces steam.  All you have to do is hang your wrinkled item up and start steaming away, which then relaxes the fabric’s fibers and eliminates wrinkles.

2)  Try a Damp Towel

First, start by placing your shirt or whatever you want to de-wrinkle on a hard surface or a clean floor. Next, place a slightly damp towel on top of your shirt or whatever you want to de-wrinkle. Simply use your own hands to press on the towel and the wrinkled areas to help you get a de-wrinkled effect. Next, hang it and leave it to dry, voila!

3)  Step Up Your Ironing Game

Some people are just not that good at ironing. Yet, there are simple ways that can make the job easier and faster. You can watch online tutorials that can show you the right techniques of using an iron or read an online guide to ironing your clothes, which can really help you with this daunting task. For example, one of those ways is to use an ironing board, which can make your experience more convenient. You can also place a towel between the board and the wrinkled garment in order to protect your clothes.

4)  Try the Ice Cubes Trick

If you feel that this is really odd, but this technique does work. First, add a couple of ice cubes in your dryer then turn it on and let it run for about 15 minutes or until the clothes become completely dry. This way, the ice cubes will produce steam that can de-wrinkle your clothes. However, this works best when there are few clothes in the dryer.

5)  Use Your Hair Straightener

If you are looking for a super quick solution, this can actually work. If you are stuck in a hotel room without anything that could help or just at home with no time, you can pick up your hair straightener and start using it. Use your flat hair straightener to remove the creases from small areas such as the shirt’s collar or small parts on your blouse or dress. However, you have to make sure that you have the temperature set right. For example, silk needs low heat versus cotton which requires a higher temperature. That’s just super easy, right?

6)  Head to the Shower

Did you know that you can actually de-wrinkle your clothes while taking a shower? The steam from the shower can help you come out with wrinkle-free clothes. Just make sure to close the windows and doors in your bathroom and hang your wrinkled clothes close to the steam coming out of the shower. Just be careful not to soak your clothes with water while doing so!

7)  Blow Dry Your Garments

Just as with the hair straightener, blow-drying your clothes can actually help you with removing the creases or wrinkles through the hot air coming out of your blow dryer. Start by dampening the wrinkled area then start blowing on it till it becomes completely dry. Just make sure you aren’t standing too close to the garment, and you will be able to see the results.

8)  Go for a Dewrinkling Spray

De-wrinkling sprays do work and can really become very useful when you are traveling. Just throw one in your bag, and you will have a quick solution for your de-wrinkled clothes. You can actually make your own spray at home by combining one teaspoon of hair conditioner with one tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 cups of water.

Although an iron or even a steamer will always be the best way to guarantee you have crisp, starched garments, those techniques can be useful in an emergency or if you’re just looking for a hassle-free solution. Instead of bringing out the iron, those tricks will help you get ready for work in no time!
