CS:GO: Mousesports Defeat Natus Vincere to win ICE Challenge 2020

In convincing fashion, Mousesports took down Natus Vincere to win big at the ICE Challenge 2020.

Mousesports have won the ICE Challenge 2020 after taking down Natus Vincere in the $250,000 event’s best-of-five Grand Final. The European squad took the series 3-1, claiming the championship title and the $125,000 first-place prize.

The series kicked off on Dust2, the map choice of mousesports. Early trades saw NaVi take the lead, standing up 6-2 on their offensive side. Mouz found their way back into the game, a triple kill from Robin “ropz” Kool allowing them a fourth round. Denis “electronic” Sharipov led NaVi through the remainder of the half, the Russian side ending up 10-5.

Mouz kicked off their offensive half with a three-round streak, quickly closing the gap as NaVi struggled to find consecutive rounds. Mouz dropped only three rounds as the score tied at 13. The European side took the lead, though electronic pushed NaVi to tie the score again. Chris “chrisJ” de Jong put mouz on map point, and the team secured Dust2 with a 16-14 scoreline.

On to Inferno

The game then went to NaVi’s pick of Inferno. Mousesports took an early 5-0 lead before NaVi could find their first round. A quad kill from Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev kicked off NaVi’s own streak, climbing back to a 4-6 deficit. The teams traded rounds for the remainder of the half, the Russian side closing out the half down 6-9.

Mousesports took quick control on their defensive half, again finding a 3-round streak. NaVi took the first gun round, though a 4k from ropz allowed mouz to steal the following. NaVi found only one more before mouz closed out the map 16-8, putting themselves on series point.

Mouz Need One More

Train stood as the third map of the series, chosen by mousesports. NaVi raced to a 5-0 lead on their defensive side, though a stunning 1v5 clutch from chrisJ allowed mouz to kick off their own streak of rounds. Mouz reached a 5-6 deficit before NaVi found the next three. The CIS squad ended the half up 9-6.

Mouz’s two-round streak opened the second half, only to be answered by two rounds from NaVi’s offense. NaVi extended their lead, reaching 14 rounds before mouz could find consecutive wins. The European side’s attempts to close the gap were quickly silenced as two back-to-back 1v2 wins from s1mple ended the map 16-11 for NaVi.

The series then went to Nuke, NaVi’s map choice. Mouz took control on the defense, reaching a 7-2 lead before NaVi could find consecutive rounds. NaVi found two, while mouz answered with another three. The final round went to NaVi, ending their T-side down 5-10.

NaVi’s pistol round victory seemed promising, though their streak ended at two as mouz found another four straight rounds, needing only one more for match point. Traded rounds allowed mouz to find their fifteenth round, and close out map four 16-9.

Mousesports came out of their fifth consecutive Grand Final victorious, taking home the ICE Challenge 2020 championship title and the $125,000 grand prize. Natus Vincere will next compete in the BLAST Premier Spring Series, while mousesports are next expected at IEM Katowice 2020.
