DiDi to launch shared EV fleet in Mexico

Chinese ridesharing company DiDi Chuxing plans to launch a fleet of electrified vehicles in Mexico. The rollout will include over 700 EVs and hybrids from OEMs such as BYD and Renault. Of these, 200 EVs will be for the exclusive use of DiDi drivers.

DiDi claims to operate the world’s largest EV fleet, including nearly one million EVs in China. Subsidiary DiDi Mexico launched in April 2018, and is now available in 32 cities.

“We are inspired and humbled by what we have learned in Mexico, which is one of the world’s most complex and exciting transportation hubs,” said Martin Mao, General Manager for DiDi Mexico. “We will continue to invest in building a fair and sustainable ecosystem for new transportation.”
