The digital platform will show over 120 hours of content across the Fall Showdown, Fall FInal, and the Global Final which takes place between November and January 2021.

The BBC is no stranger to broadcasting esports, having recently partnered with various tournament organisers over the last few months. With a lack of real-world sport taking place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the corporation has aired League of Legends content via the UKLC and NLC. Additionally, the Rocket League European Spring Series and simulation racing competition, the W Series Esports League, have also been aired by the broadcaster.

Alexander Lewin, Vice President of Distribution and Programming at BLAST, discussed the partnership in a release: “The BBC is admired around the world for its standard of excellence, and its digital platforms provide the perfect destination for BLAST Premier’s fans based in the United Kingdom to watch the world’s best Counter-Strike players go head-to-head.”

The three remaining tournaments will see the best CS:GO teams in the world compete for over £1.5m in prize money. Alongside being shown on BBC iPlayer, the tournaments will still be shown on Twitch and YouTube.

BLAST will be present at ESI Digital Winter day two, which is commencing today. Nicolas Estrup,
Director of Product & Experience at BLAST will be joined by an array of experts to discuss esports broadcasting at the virtual conference.

Esports Insider says: In recent years, the BBC has continued to expand its esports offering across a number of titles. The corporation has already shown CS:GO as part of the Gfinity Elite Series so it’s certainly a positive to see it broadcast one of the biggest tournament circuits.
