In the first nine months of operation, esports coaching platform ProGuides paid out over a million dollars to coaches, according to information revealed by the company to The Esports Observer.
According to data provided by representatives of ProGuides, the on-demand coaching platform paid out an estimated $1.5M USD to its most dedicated coaches.
The top 10 best performing coaches earned an average of $6K a month teaching students how to play a number of esports titles, with the most popular being League of Legends.
ProGuides currently has 1K coaches and 25K students, with the average training session lasting 22 minutes and costing around $12. Students seeking training include parents looking to “keep up with their kids,” young professionals seeking a professional-level teammate to practice with, and children seeking pro advice to train for “esports tryouts at schools, colleges, and for local teams.”
The company also said that new features are in the works, including “video gameplay analysis of recent matches and time-stamped playback with stop/play audio critique and visual aids.” Currently, ProGuides offers on-demand coaching, regular live group courses, and a catalog of video courses for various games.
In late January ProGuides operator GLG Gaming raised a $5M USD seed investment led by venture capital firm M13 with participation from Amplify LA, Quest Venture Partners, Peak State Ventures, and the GFR Fund.
