Spoon, an audio-only live-streaming platform based out of South Korea, has announced a partnership with esports stats platform OP.GG to launch an esports audio show.
The weekly show, called ‘GG no RE’, will feature actor Ben Stillwell as host alongside a guest host, and will include pro players along with interactive elements for listeners.

Sangrak Choi, CEO of OP.GG, commented in a release: “Launching the series with Spoon gives us another key touchpoint to connect with our esports community. The platform’s interactive format and focus on audio bridges professional athletes and the broader gaming community together to celebrate the art of the sport, engage in authentic conversations, and connect with the human being behind the keyboard.”
Executive produced by Clint Sears, the show will serve as Spoon’s first original programming effort and will focus on an array of popular esports titles. Spoon’s app-based platform allows users to interact with DJs and even host their own audio streams.
Listeners will be able to interact with the show’s hosts and other listeners via the smartphone app, while recorded versions of the episodes will be released afterwards as podcasts via platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

“Interactive media has certainly seen a rise across the industry and I’m thrilled to help spearhead the first of its kind show,” said Sears. “Spoon’s audio platform is a breakthrough for user-driven entertainment, and its content provides unparalleled interactivity that users, especially in the burgeoning esports community, love.”
Esports Insider says: There are plenty of esports-related shows on streaming video platforms, but streaming audio is a different kind of approach. It’ll be interesting to see how “GG no RE” is embraced and whether it courts a unique following.
