Comcast Spectacor-owned Overwatch League team Philadelphia Fusion has partnered with Nerd Street Gamers to facilitate and produce the organization’s three homestands that will take place in Philadelphia and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The Overwatch League regular season will see the Fusion host three separate events at The Met Philadelphia (twice) and the iconic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. These matches mark the first time Philadelphia’s official Overwatch League team will compete at home.
“We witnessed Philadelphia’s passion for esports when we hosted a sold-out crowd for the Overwatch League Grand Finals at Wells Fargo Center last September,” said Julie Truong, director of business operations, Philadelphia Fusion. “After spending the past two years in Burbank, California, the team is excited to finally play on home turf in front of our incredible fans. We can’t wait to provide an unforgettable experience that gives fans a taste of what’s to come once Fusion Arena opens its doors in 2021.”
According to the announcement, Nerd Street Gamers will handle all aspects of producing the event, including the in-venue experience, creative, infrastructure, security, and staffing.
The third major announcement for Nerd Street Gamers in the past four months, the company has been expanding its experience base, having previously announced a deal with apparel brands to open retail spaces and bringing on title sponsors for their own events.
