ICAR-NOFRI organises a training programme for progressive farmers

PUNE: The ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institute, Tadong recently organized a three-day training programme on “Organic Crop Production Technologies for farmers of Jalna, Maharashtra.

RK Avasthe, Joint Director, ICAR-NOFRI highlighted the relevance of the training programme for the promotion of organic farming by the adoption of new technologies developed for the organic systems. Avasthe said, “There is the need for good soil health in organic production system. Soil health management and conservation agricultural practices are necessary for field crop production.”

Farmers were also briefed about organic production technologies, ongoing research and development activities during their visit to the ICAR-NOFRI Research Farm.

Participants were distributed “Extension Folders on Organic Production Technologies” and two books published by ICAR-NOFRI during the valedictory function. A team of 20 farmers visited ICAR-NOFRI to get equipped with organic farming techniques.
