Horticulture Deptt organizes training programme for farmers

 Srinagar, Feb 02 (KNS):  Scientists of KVK and officers of Horticulture Department today imparted training and awareness to the orchardists about Horticulture practices.

 

In order to promote Horticulture in District Srinagar, the Department of Horticulture,      organized one day Farmers awareness Programme under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) at Khanmoh.

District Level Horticulture Officer, District Srinagar,  Sandeep Gupta, Programme Co-ordinator KVK, Srinagar Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahad, SMS Fruit Science KVK Srinagar Dr. Rayees Ahmad Wani, Horticulture Development Officer, Srinagar Mrs, Saima Hameed, Horticulture Development Officer, Zawoora, Mohammad Maqbool Pandith besides others participated in the Awareness Camp.

Addressing the farmers, Sandeep Gupta educated them about various schemes, programmes presently under implementation. He impressed upon the participants to avail incentives available under different centrally, state sponsored schemes with special emphasis on High Density Apple Plantation scheme which is the need of the hour.

He also briefed them about incentives available for Creation of Irrigation Sources, Organic farming, Post Harvest Management etc.

Experts from Krishi Vighyan Kendra (KVK), Srinagar educated the farmers about nursery development, disease and pest management in fruit crops and drip irrigation.

Horticulture Development Officer, Srinagar,  Saima Hameed, educated the farmers about the procedure for availing incentives under different schemes and urged them to come forward to avail various incentives.(KNS).
