Geisinger has formed a six-year partnership with Omnicell to expand its use of the medication management software company’s secure, automated dispensing systems throughout the Danville, Pa.-based health system.
Through the agreement, Geisinger, which has already deployed Omnicell’s anesthesia management workstations in its operating rooms, will introduce automated medication dispensing cabinets throughout other areas of its hospitals, according to a Feb. 10 news release.
“Automating the process of storing, dispensing and securing medication in patient care areas and operating rooms will allow our pharmacists to spend less time on the administrative tasks involved in running a very busy pharmacy, and more time on direct patient care,” David Klinger, Geisinger’s system director of pharmacy operations, said in the release. “We have a long-standing and trusted partnership with Omnicell and look forward to leveraging their knowledge and expertise to further upgrade and automate our facilities.”
