Which teams have the most NBA championships? Explore the Larry O’Brien Trophy winners throughout the years in augmented reality

Winning an NBA championship is no easy feat. The league was founded in 1946 and now features 30 teams, yet over a third of the franchises have never won a title.

The trend of dominant teams winning continued this year with the Los Angeles Lakers winning their 17th championship on Sunday after a Game 6 win over the Miami Heat. That ties the Boston Celtics for most titles in NBA history.

Every NBA season is different, and this one might have been the most bizarre of all after a global pandemic shut the season down before being reborn at Disney World. The title is no less impressive. While the way the game is played is always adapting, there is one constant trait every NBA championship team has: The ability to battle adversity. Teams need to regularly navigate injuries, inconsistent play and locker-room tension, but this season the difficulties were magnified. The uncertainty of the season continuing, the inability to practice while quarantining, players and staff not seeing their families for months while staying in the bubble. All this made this victory that much more impressive for the Lakers.
