Some jobs may be permanently lost to automation during pandemic (Crain’s Detroit Business)

The Covid-19 pandemic may permanently replace some human workers with machines, according to an article in Crain’s Detroit Business that cites data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. The longer the recession, the deeper the impact of automation will be. Jobs most at risk of automation include hotel desk clerks, shuttle drivers, retail salespersons, parking attendants, slaughterhouse workers and toll collectors.
