Pittsburgh Knights Team With PNC Bank for Inclusivity Initiative – The Esports Observer|home of essential esports business news and insights

Esports organization Pittsburgh Knights has announced a collaboration with PNC Bank to launch a women in esports initiative. Both organizations are headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and have a relationship with the city’s NFL franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As part of the new PNC x Knights Women in Esports initiative, the companies will establish a steering committee composed of professionals throughout the gaming industry as well as “local sports industry experts and scholars who have studied the history and trajectory of women in traditional sports and society.” This committee will share its guidance and insight to help develop new initiatives and strategies for inclusivity in the space. Additionally, content developed through the initiative will be shared as a series on LinkedIn, with plans to expand to “local and national channels this fall.”

According to the release, women account for roughly 40% of the global esports audience. More and more esports companies are looking to adopt women’s esports initiatives. Fellow Pennsylvania-based company Comcast Spectacor has established its own women in gaming initiative, FTW: For The Women, which last weekend hosted an all-women VALORANT tournament which received support from Riot Games as an official part of the game’s major esports competition series, complete with a $50K USD prize pool.
