ORDER Co-Founder Jake ‘Spawn’ Tiberi resigns

Professional League of Legends commentator and analyst Jake ‘Spawn’ Tiberi has resigned from his role as Co-Founder of Australian esports organisation ORDER.

The decision comes following Riot Games‘ decision to scuttle the Oceanic Pro League (OPL) last week.

According to an official release, Tiberi has resigned from his role due to Riot’s decision to discontinue the OPL and his need to pursue international opportunities elsewhere. Whether this is as a commentator, analyst, coach, general manager or another role remains to be seen.

Along with founding ORDER in 2017, he has been a key figure in the professional League of Legends scene in Oceania. Tiberi rose to prominence as a commentator and analyst in the OPL from its inception, and carried on to work on the broadcast team for multiple League of Legends World Championships.

In an official statement from the organisation, ORDER noted that “the past week has been devastating for everyone involved in the Oceanic League of Legends community, and while it is difficult for the organisation to make the announcement of Jake’s departure, we are incredibly thankful for his time, service, and continuous commitment to ORDER and the communities he helped foster. We know that Jake will continue his esports journey towards bigger and better things, as is fitting of his appetite for excellence.”

ORDER currently fields teams in CS:GO, Street Fighter V and League of Legends. Without a professional or semi-pro league or tournament to compete in, the future of the latter team is unclear. In a message to fans, ORDER stated that it wants to thank fans for the “continued support across what has been an incredibly difficult year for all, but despite the turbulence being felt right now there are still a wealth of opportunities in Oceanic esports, and we will continue to look at all options and opportunities, and continue to prosper.”

Esports Insider says: It is understandable but sad news to see one of the bedrocks of the Oceanic League of Legends community step back from his role with one of the region’s most popular organisations. With a wealth of knowledge both inside and outside the game, Spawn will be an asset to whoever he works with next.
