League of Legends: Immortals Part Ways With GM Keaton And Head Coach Zaboutine

Immortals have decided to part ways with General Manager Keaton Cryer and head coach Thomas “Zaboutine” Si-Hassen.

Both Keaton and Zaboutine have been part of Immortals since its acquisition of OpTic Gaming’s LCS roster in late 2019. The pair had been a part of OpTic since they joined the League of Legends Championship Series Franchising in Spring 2018.

Immortals had a disappointing start to 2020, finishing Spring Split in 8th place. The side had a chance to make playoffs but failed to win their tiebreaker matches. It was a good start to the split, but things fell apart quickly for Immortals. A chance in the bot lane saw Johnny “Altec” Ru replaced for their Academy ADC Apollo “Apollo” Price, but it failed to spark a revival.

Heading into Summer Split, Immortals would again dip into the Academy, promoting jungler Nicholas “Potluck” Pollack, support Austin “Gate” Yu and reverting the Spring Split ADC switch to bring Apollo back. The Summer Split tweaks saw Jake “Xmithie” Puchero, and Support, Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent lose out on a starting roster spot. Immortals have started Summer 0-4, sitting in joint last place with Dignitas.

Immortals didn’t mince its words when it came to the Tweet announcing the pairs would be leaving:

“We’ve decided to part ways with LCS GM, Keaton Cryer, and LCS Coach, Thomas “Zaboutine” Si-Hassen. We’d like to thank both of them for their work with Immortals”.

No official replacements have been announced at this time ahead of a crucial weekend of matches for Immortals. However, ESPN has reported that former Los Angeles Valiant (Immortals owned Overwatch franchise) General Manager, Mike Schwartz will assume an interim GM role for the roster, while assistant coaches Adrien “GotoOne” Picard and Paul “Malaclypse” Decsi will take over Zaboutine’s coaching duties on a short term basis.

Immortals go into week three with matches against Golden Guardians and Cloud9.
