The online event aims to foster market development, raise the profile of Italian organisations with brands, media and institutions, and build a professional foundation for esports in the region to develop.

Thalita Malagò, Director General of IIDEA, commented: “Since 2019 IIDEA has represented the main esports ecosystem in Italy as part of its mission to create favourable conditions for the development of the sector – and this includes publishers producing competitive games, tournament organisers and teams.

“The 2020 Nielsen Report is key to informing our representatives and their business partners about the scope of investment opportunities within the esports sector in Italy. We hope that esports is a positive news story for the Italian sector in a year which has been tough and extraordinary for us all.”

MC’d by radio host Bryan Ronzani and actress Daniela Delle Cave, events at RoundOne include the release of the 2020 Nielsen Report on esports in Italy, panel discussions on esports regulation, return on investment, sponsorship and branding, and a fireside chat between investor Jens Hilgers and journalist Alessio Jacona. The event will also see a digital showcase of Italian esports talent and the first rendition of the Italian Esports Awards.

Tommaso Mattei, Consulting & Research Leader at Nielsen Sport & Entertainment South Europe added that “esports is a fast-growing phenomenon with a unique fanbase. Our role is to support this growth with established metrics useful in helping the sector development and in allowing a growing number of brands to understand the potential of esports.

“We are delighted that our esports market assessment can be revealed at RoundOne, providing IIDEA and its partners with clear and empirical evidence as to the size and scope of the market in Italy.”

Esports Insider says: Hosting an Italian digital conference is a great way to bring together the nation’s esports personnel. The findings of Nielsen’s report will be interesting to see as there’s theoretically a lot of potential for growth; having such close proximity to global fashion and lifestyle brands leaves many Italian esports organisations in a good position to make moves into that space.
