How intelligent automation fills the IT transformation gap

There are deep, fundamental differences between traditional IT transformation projects and both robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent process automation (IPA) programs. This article explains that to avoid unnecessary RPA and IPA program failures, these differences must be understood, and only when this occurs, will they deliver the best results.

In the early days of RPA, when I was part of a process go-live, we were contacted by the IT department, who insisted on meeting up to understand what we were up to. The meeting majored on the desired IT controls around the project, one of the big ones was the change control process, which consisted of 4 different work streams and about 97 steps. Amazingly, the typical time to go through this process for a ‘rush’ fix was two weeks.
