Global tournament organizer ESL has announced a partnership with Tencent-published mobile battle royal title PUBG MOBILE that will see ESL become a commercial partner of the game’s 2020 esports program.

ESL will support Tencent’s PUBG MOBILE esports operations, including the creation of a new dedicated studio in Katowice, Poland. In a release, the companies noted that while safety of players and organizers will be a priority during the current pandemic brought on by the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), this new studio will serve as the “home of offline matches” for the game going forward.

Last December, Tencent rolled out its 2020 esports plan for PUBG MOBILE, which consisted of a global, multi-tiered structure with an overall prize pool of $5M USD.

Earlier this year, ESL and its sister company DreamHack also announced a deal with Blizzard Entertainment to manage esports operations for StarCraft II and Warcraft III for the next three years.
