AM-Flow’s automation of the 3D printing industry gets a $4 million boost

AM-Flow will use a four million dollar investment to further scale up its automation-focused products in the 3D printing industry. The company, based in Amsterdam and Eindhoven, will focus on its AI-based computer vision, motion, and robotics solutions. These are designed to process 3D printed parts with high speed and efficiency.

Participants in the Series A financing round, which was led by BOM Brabant Ventures, are additive manufacturing market leaders Materialise (Leuven, Belgium) and Midwest Prototyping (Blue Mounds, USA), Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and the existing investors Miller Turner and DOEN Participaties.

In recent years, the possibilities and applications of 3D printing have increased enormously. However, the growth of 3D printing is limited by the absence of automated production processes, says CEO Stefan Rink. “Post-production (identification, quality control, transport, and packaging) is still carried out by people. This makes 3D printing technology until now inefficient and too expensive for large-scale production lines.”

Through the application of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics, AM-Flow is able to deliver modular solutions to automate the entire production line.

Brainport Industries Campus

In Eindhoven, AM-Flow is located on Brainport Industries Campus (BIC). “AM-Flow plays an important role in the construction of the additive manufacturing-ecosystem in Brainport Eindhoven”, says Ilse Massart, Senior Investment Manager of the Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM). “We are pleased to be able to contribute to AM-Flow’s ambitious growth plans and assist the management team in its international expansion.

AM-FLOW started in 2018 as a supplier to the additive manufacturing industry and has rapidly established a global position in the field of 3D printing post-processing. The Amsterdam branch focuses on software development and AI; the Eindhoven branch on mechatronics, robotics, and computer vision. At BIC, the company also has a showroom and is, with other parties (including Marketiger), supporting the additive manufacturing ecosystem in Brainport Eindhoven.
