Allied Esports Odyssey – The Esports Observer|home of essential esports business news and insights

Allied Esports is the latest esports organization to be a part of Riot Games’ VALORANT Ignition Series by launching “Allied Esports Odyssey.” The €15K ($17.6K USD) VALORANT Ignition Series stop will see some of the top teams such as G2, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Vodafone Giants, and Fish123 compete in the week-long event going from Aug. 11-16. The online European tournament will be produced from the Allied Esports’ HyperX Esports Studio in Hamburg, Germany.

The tournament will see six teams participate, four of those coming from direct invites and two from open qualifiers which will take place from Aug. 8-9.

The first five days of the tournament will use a best-of-two, round-robin format which will see each team play the other five during the initial rounds. The top four teams will then advance to the playoffs in a double-elimination, best-of-one format. The finals will be a best-of-three to crown a champion.

Thus far the VALORANT Ignition Series has had 11 events that have taken place all over the world including Japan, Brazil, and New Zealand, among others. Riot started the Ignition Series as a litmus test to see the interest level and gain insight as to the viability of the new five-person tactical shooter as an esport.
