5 of our favourite villas within luxury hotels in Mallorca

Looking to be independent, but also have the benefits of a wealth of facilities close to hand? Perhaps villa accommodation within a luxury hotel might be an option for you to consider.  Retain your privacy with the benefit of your own private pool. Alternatively, if you feel like the company of other hotel guests, you can make use of the main pool, and other facilties.

We have selected five of our favourite villa-style accommodation within luxury hotels on the popular Balearic island of Mallorca. Hopefully one will be your favourite.

1. Cap Rocat

The Cap Rocat is a 5-star hotel in the Bay of Palma on the island of Mallorca. It was formerly an ancient fortress, originally designed for defence. Now it is a stunning luxury hotel. Particular attention was paid to preserving the architecture, and the natural environment when converting the fortress into the hotel you see today. Cap Rocat is located in the resort of Cala Blava which is approximately 16 kilometres to the South East of the centre of the city, Palma.

The hotel has a variety of room types, including two with private pool, or plunge pool. These include:

Suite El Cabo

This is for two people. The interior has three sections with beautiful vaulted ceilings. The accommodation is open plan, and has no separating doors. The bedroom has a canopied bed together with a seating area with two large armchairs and a three seater sofa. If you do need to do any work whilst you are staying here, then a desk is available.

There is a large marble bathroom with free standing bath, and a very large walk-in shower into which natural light floods in from above. Outside, there are three terraces. A private swimming pool is yours to enjoy, and you have the benefit of a gazebo from where you can take in the sea views.

Sentinels

These have been dug out of the rock where once the cannons were hidden. You will find marble floors, stone walls and wooden ceilings. Each room has a small desk two armchairs and a table. You have two bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower, and the other a bath.

There is a small private pool with views over the sea located on an outdoor terrace at the edge of the cliff. Stay in a Sentinel room, and you will receive absolute privacy.

You can enjoy the cuisine available at the hotel, with the choice of Mediterranean and Mallorcan cuisine.  La Fortaleza Is a small restaurant for only 30 diners. If you stay here during the hot summer months, the restaurant moves up to the roof providing the best views of the nearby bay. This restaurant is only open during the evenings for a formal dinner.

Head to the Sea Club where you can enjoy informal baked or grilled meat or fish dishes while seated outdoors. The Sea Club is open from 1:00pm through to late evening.

There is a spa at the hotel that has been carved out of the rocks, and is 12m below ground. Here you will find a saltwater swimming pool. Hammam and Ayurveda are 2 options available to guests, together with a variety of massages and treatments.

2. Castillo Hotel Son Vida

The 5-star Castillo Hotel Son Vida is located in the exclusive area of Son Vida on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca. This 164-room hotel has wonderful views over the Bay of Palma and is surrounded by gardens.

Amongst its rooms, is a 4-bedroom villa with private pool.  The villa is near the 6th hole of the neighbouring Son Vida Golf Course, and is built over 2 floors.  Each of the 4 bedrooms comes with its own bathroom complete with Hermes bath amenities, slippers, and robes.

All bedrooms have flat screen TV, as well as the lounge area with satellite channels.  The dining room has a table, seating up to 12 guests (in case you want to invite guests).  The kitchen has a walk-in refrigerator.  There is a private office area with complimentary WiFi. The villa also has a private wellness area, comprising a sauna and steam bath.  In the garden, you will find a private pool with jacuzzi.  Of course, you can make use of the hotel’s restaurant and facilities.

You can reach the villa either by a private, direct entrance, or via the hotel’s main building.  You will have a private parking facility for up to 3 vehicles, and a state-of-the-art security system.

Facilities at the hotel include treatments rooms with open views to the hotel’s exterior. There is a fitness room, spa, heated outdoor pool, indoor pool, and children’s pool for 3-12 years.

3. Belmond La Residencia

The luxury Belmond La Residencia is located in the idyllic village of Deia, nestled between the Mediterranean and Tramuntana Mountains.

The hotel is twin manor houses in lush gardens among olive and citrus groves.  There are 71 rooms and suites, and 1 villa.

Enjoy the facilities of the 3-bedroomed Villa Pueblo with private pool within the grounds of the hotel.  There are 3 double bedrooms, living room with open fireplace, fully-equipped kitchen and dining room, heated swimming pool, TV and DVD player, BBQ, daily maid service and internet.  The villa is built over 3 levels, accommodating up to 6 people.

The villa was once a private residence and is just a short walk from the main hotel, in fact just across the street.  Of course, you can enjoy the facilities offered by the hotel, whilst retaining the pleasure of an independent holiday, away from it all.

Facilities within the hotel include a spa with treatments, indoor pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, and gymnasium. There are several dining options including a restaurant, bistro, pool restaurant and bar area.  There are 2 outdoor swimming pools with views of the surrounding mountains.

4. Gran Hotel Son Net

A luxurious hideaway located on a private estate in the Serra de Tramuntana in the village of Puigpunyent, and dating back to the 17th century.  With only 31 rooms and suites, you will be assured of personal attention throughout your stay at the Gran Hotel Son Net.

Included in the 31 rooms is the Gran Suite Cottage which is just a few steps from the main hotel building, but within its own grounds with a private entrance.

The cottage comprises terrace, garden, sun loungers, swimming pool and jacuzzi.  The master bedroom has queen size bed, direct access to the pool and jacuzzi, its own sitting room and a marble bathroom with walk-in shower.  Of course, there are wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.  There is the possibility of it being transformed into a 2-bedroom suite with the addition of an adjoining bedroom.

At the end of the 20th century, the historic mansion was transformed into the boutique hotel it is now. If you stay at the cottage, you will also be able to make use of the gym, wellness centre, several swimming pools including the main 30m pool, cabanas, and outdoor jacuzzis. The main restaurant (Oleum) offers a selection of Mallorcan dishes. This restaurant is used for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has an extension to a lovely outdoor terrace area.  There is also an informal restaurant (Gazebo) that serves lunch.  Located near the pool area, you will be able to enjoy a selection of fresh food from the local market. There are a few other dining options available including one available for private breakfasts and dinner parties.

5. Son Penya Adults Only Petit Hotel & Spa

Just outside the village of San Llorenc, is the adults-only Son Penya.  Surrounded by countryside, this Mallorcan estate has been completely renovated, and is now an exclusive hotel with only 20 rooms.  Each of the rooms are independent, and surrounded by gardens of olive, lemon, and almond trees.

There is the Deluxe Villa, providing peace and tranquility.  The villa features an open-plan layout and enjoys lots of natural light. You will find a sitting room with a sofa and designer furnishings. The bedroom area has a large bed, and the bathroom has hydro massage bathtub where light comes in through a private indoor patio. There is also an independent shower and toilet.  Enjoy the LCD TV, desk, WiFi and terrace with private pool and chairs.  You will also benefit from a mini bar, bathrobes, hairdryer, coffee maker, safe, air-conditioning, heating, daily maid service and room service.

If you would like to make use of the resort facilities, these include access to the spa, open-air chill out areas with armchairs and sofas. There is a main pool area with Balinese beds and loungers. The spa area features modern facilities available to guests on a complimentary basis.  There is a massage service and a team of professionals on hand. Massages can also be provided in your villa. The indoor spa pool is heated and has uninterrupted views of the countryside. There is also a Turkish bath, sauna, and fitness area.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be taken at the 5’S Restaurant at the hotel. During good weather, you can enjoy the outdoor terrace where meals will also be served.

Of course, if you prefer to stay in a hotel room instead of your own villa-type accommodation, then the hotels will be more than pleased to welcome you.  It is difficult to select a favourite from the 5 we’ve brought to you, but which would you choose?
